Thirty-one sugar beet germplasm breeding lines and releases produced by the USDA-ARS sugarbeet program at Salinas, CA, and one line from the USDA-ARS sugarbeet program at East Lansing, MI, were evaluated for resistance to rhizomania under south-central Idaho conditions at Twin Falls, ID. The field had been identified as having Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV), which overcomes resistance conditioned by the Rzl gene. Eight additional rice cultivars as differentials were selected to identify pathotypes occurring in the Tocantins State. They were BRS Jaburu, BRS Taim, BRS Biguá, BR IRGA-417, Epagri 109, Javaé, Metica-1 and Supremo. These differentials were used in addition to the international set to determine the pathogenic diversity of 193 Pyricularia oryzae isolates collected during 1994-2002 from irrigated rice cultivars. They were conserved in Pyricularia culture collection of Embrapa Rice and Bean Research center. En jitomate (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) germoplasmas no comerciales resistentes son usados como portainjertos para el control de enfermedades. Los compuestos fenólicos están asociados a genotipos resistentes contra especies de Fusarium. Altos contenidos de fenoles solubles totales puede estar asociado a genotipos resistentes a Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici raza 3. It is important to understand the effects of weather, insect density and plant cultivar on insect abundance to predict and prevent crop production loss. The present work investigated the influence of such factors on aphid in alfalfa during one year (short term). Data was collected from September/1997 to August/1998 at Canchin Farm (CCPSE-EMBRAPA), São Carlos, State of São Paulo, Brazil. Weather conditions had, in general, little effect on the variation of aphid populations, but Therioaphis maculata abundance was negatively correlated to humidity. Из прибрежных вод Одесского залива - Нефтяной гавани, пляжей “Дельфин” и “Дача Ковалевского” изолированы штаммы доминирующих гетеротрофных грамотрицательных бактерий с фоновыми и высокими уровнями устойчивости к ионам Pb2+, Cd2+ и Hg2+. Изучение фенотипических признаков выделенных штаммов бактерий позволило отнести подавляющее их большинство к родам Vibrio, Pseudomonas, Aeromonas и Enterobacter.
